Our recent poll regarding the preferred variants ended earlier this week and we thought we'd take a moment to share the results with you.
Poll participants were asked to choose which of the following Civic Si configurations would best suit their needs:
1. 6MT Coupe
2. 6MT Sedan
3. 5AT Coupe
4. 5AT Sedan
5. 6MT 5-door (Euro Civic body)
6. 5AT 5-door (Euro Civic body)
7. 6MT 3-door Hatch
8. 5AT 3-door Hatch
In the end, there were 3409 participants in the poll, and in the early days of the voting, the 6MT Coupe and 6MT sedan were in a dead heat, with both receiving around 30% of the early votes. The 6MT 3-door and Euro 5-door models fought for third and consistently pulled about 15-18% of the votes. As time progressed, however, the 6MT Coupe emerged as the clear leader and ended the polling with a 30% share (1011 votes) of the votes. The 6MT sedan dropped back to 21% (731 votes), followed closely by the 3-door 6MT with 19% (645 votes). The Euro 5-door 6MT model made a pretty strong showing with 16% (531 votes) of the total.
As expected, there doesn't appear to be much interest in a Civic Si with an automatic transmission, but the top in that category, the sedan variant grabbed the most votes, with 6% (221 votes), followed by the 5-door (4%, 138 votes), the Coupe (3%, 98 votes), and finally, the 3-door hatch with a paltry 1% (34 votes).
As a thanks to everybody for participating in the poll, here's a few bonus images from Neal, starting with a rendering of what a Civic Si Sport Sedan Concept might look like. Knowing Honda's past tendencies, it wouldn't surprise us one bit if Honda marks the 1 year anniversary of the '05 Chicago debut of the Concept Civic Si by using the '06 Chicago show to announce the 2007 Civic Si sedan. If so, that means they'll very likely be showing another Civic Si concept, this time in sedan form.
