CrossTour onsale October 26, 2009(?)

The funny thing about rumors is how quickly things can change. Just a few short weeks ago, we heard from a source (who has provided reliable info in the past) that the CrossTour's intro had been pushed back to the first half of 2010. Now, one of the folks who thought that rumor was wrong has chimed in with a new, more detailed update. I have been unable to confirm the info contained within this new briefing, but one thing that lends credence to the Fall 2009 launch date is the fact that dealers received their accessory pre-order packs for the CrossTour in late April or early May, and we're told that "Pre-orders come out approximately 6 months prior to vehicle release almost like clockwork."

This is what was sent in:
26 Oct 2009 is the release date. NO 4cyl or manual trans. V6 with VCM 2WD or 4WD, 3,500lb towing. 2.5 inches taller than current Accord and 7 inches LONGER than the Venza. Accord platform for sure. They are saying it will have "power fold down seats" on the upper models. I'm not sure of the lower models. It will also have a dealer installed plastic floor cover that will allow it to be like a truck bed. I don't know how much wider it will be than the Accord. There will be a Base 2wd, 4x4, a mid and top with Navi. Not sure if there will be RES or not. 18 inch wheels on top models along with possible power hatch. 260 plus HP.

You can print this, but do not use my name.
Thanks. this is an 8 on the credibility scale.

So at this point it seems that the things that we don't have a good handle on yet are:
  • Launch date (though more evidence is pointing to Fall '09 launch)
  • Accord (double wishbones) or ZDX (McPherson struts) platform? (ZDX platform seems more logical, but IMO, Accord platform is more desireable).

Also, I'm not quite sure what the "dealer installed plastic floor cover that will allow it to be like a truck bed" is really about. As for the credibility, I'm starting this at a 5 until I get some form of verification.

UPDATE: We have been advised that the vehicle will in fact be released this fall. And it will NOT share the ZDX's architecture. So we know that much is true. But it has also been indicated to us that some of the other info in this rumor pack is inaccurate. "Power fold down seats"? Not likely. See more here.
