2002 Civic Si Photo Report

Honda gave us a pre-production '02 Civic Si for a week long test drive in southern California. We used this opportunity to put the car through the sort of situations a typical TOV reader would put their own car through: canyon driving, autocrossing, dyno testing, stop and go traffic, freeway cruising, etc.. Along the way we snapped hundreds of photos and shot quite a bit of video footage, in the hopes of capturing the essence of the Si as closely as possible. We hope this comprehensive photo report will provide a good insight into the '02 Civic Si. As would be expected, you become quite familiar with a car after living with it for a week. A 20-minute test drive from a dealership is useful, but simply doesn't compare. It's just not possible to uncover all the subtleties of a vehicle in such a brief period.

We spent time with the car on the canyon roads of Malibu and through the switchbacks of Mulholland Drive. Steering effort was nicely weighted and the car felt stable through the seemingly endless switchbacks on these famous canyon roads. The view out the windshield is quite expansive, yet it's virtually impossible to see the hood. If you're not accustomed to driving something like a minivan, this could require some familiarization, especially when navigating through a parking lot in tight spaces.

Love it or hate it, the hatchback styling conceals a very roomy interior for 4 adults and their luggage.
