Oh oh...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automobiles_manufactured_in_Ontario

We'll see what happens.

Maybe we ought to annex Ontario. Hmm.. maybe not... they are stuck with French.

And Alberta and Saskatchewan. They got energy and nice conservative people.

We'll see what happens... OH, don't forget about the HRV and other vehicles made in Mejico!

We're mostly ok. Our manufacturing industry is already pretty minimal because of Canada's emphasis during the last Federal administration -prior to the oil price collapse- of investing in oil (and unfavorable exchange rates over a decade). Many jobs have already transitioned out- Most high margin jobs in Toronto are based in services and technology. Some smaller cities will be hurt.

Ontario did just vote in a PC provincial government so we're not that liberal (nor are we that conservative). For us, government is mostly middle of the road and transactional- it is historical for Ontario to vote opposite of the Federal government. We are not as prone to political ideology, since we're not just limited to two parties.

Also, the French are our neighbours to the East.

I'm pretty sure that most Canadians would rather not be part of the US.

What’s gonna happen? What do you mean? Costs for cars will go up and new car sales will drop. Jobs will be lost. This isn’t complicated. It’s happening everywhere with the tariffs already in force.

Yeah, the Ontario Liberals pretty we’re much wiped out, from a majority to seven seats after last week’s election. Which brought up the joke, “What do the Liberals and a minivan have in common? Seven seats.”

It reminds me a lot of this meme, where the creator clearly wasn't brilliant enough to realize that voters in all states are mixed, including states like California which split 51%-49%.

Out in the real world, Canadians and Americans are a lot less antagonistic toward each other than the media would have you believe (especially with as desperate as they are to create some sort of major scandal for Trump).

I think you see this mentality often. I know when Obama was POTUS many Americans not on the coasts were finding ways to leave the country.

As for tariffs, I am not a huge fan of them, but I also am not a fan of other countries taking advantage of the US as has been the case for decades, so if its going to take some tough talk and tactics from Trump to level the playing field, I am all for some short term pain for long-term gain.

Except that I am not 100% sure it was satirical when it was released.

And unfortunately, the worse part is that for a lot of people in those "America" states, they legitimately assume that everyone in that state must agree with them.

But further, you entirely missed the point that just because a map was created or a poll was conducted, does not necessarily mean it is either valid or accurate. Frankly, "thin skin" has nothing to do with it.

Sorry, perhaps I could have worded that better. I am a Conservative and I heard a great deal of moaning and groaning from my side about Obama, and many threatened to leave the US. The same happened when Trump was elected, you saw many elites on the 2 coasts threatening to move to Canada and elsewhere. Both sides do it, so that is actually one thing they have in common. :)

Ah, but they don't need to move to a first world country. All they need is to move to a country that shares their views on governance and policy. There are a few I may suggest:

For those who believe in:

1. Minimal to no government ... Somalia, Syria

2. Capital punishment, preferably without trial, for drug dealers... Duarte's Phillipines

3. Jail terms for abortions, Ireland (too late now)

4. A "strong leader" who is not constrained by "weak laws"... North Korea, Russia, Hungary

5. Expensive, "you are on your own healthcare which only the rich can afford"....any third world country

6. Elections designed to keep your favorite party in power by making sure those who will vote the wrong way don't vote... Russia, Texas, Tennessee

I think that should be enough options for now.... LoL

American conservatives threatened to move to a more socialist country that has universal healthcare, stricter business rules, higher cost of living and a high number of visible minorities and immigrants?

Did these people have a mistaken perception of what Canada is, or did they look at Winnipeg and assume it's like that everywhere? I'm honestly not understanding.
