HandsFreeLink Disconnect in 3rd Gen TL    (Score: 1, Normal) 08-09-2018 22:17

Greetings, former Integra owner back here prowling on TOV. Feels like home. :-)

I am looking for a 2007-2008 TL without Navi for my mother, and have noticed that the HFL module is a source of frequent drained battery complaints. Mom has no need for Bluetooth or voice commands, so my plan is to just disconnect the connector to the module and tape over the contacts. Has anyone noticed secondary issues after doing this? (i.e. error messages on the MID popping up after a while)

Lots of helpful folks on YouTube have captured the procedure, seems fairly straightforward.

I would appreciate any advice or narratives.
Thanks.

Even simpler, just don’t setup the Bluetooth phone connection.

It can and will still drain the battery, regardless of a pairing or lack thereof.

How is that even possible if Bluetooth is disconnected and there’s no attempt at pairing? I’ve heard of HFL modules going back but not this.

I own a 2008 (3rd gen TL) and also had the problem with the HFL draining the battery. Supposedly there is a lawsuit to get AHM to replace the HFL module in question. I disconnected mine after the replacement of the 2nd battery in less than 50K miles... like the OP said, You tube shows exactly where and how to disconnect the plug located in the upper moonroof/interior light control. Have not had a single drained battery since.
