The Avancier was introduced to the Chinese market roughly 3 years ago and is perched atop Honda's range of SUVs there. Like the 10th generation Accord, the Avancier is offered in 2 versions - 240 (with 1.5T engine) and 370 (2.0T engine). The numeric nomenclature refers to the engines' torque ratings: 1.5T=240nm and 2.0T=370nm. It's a sharp looking rig and ever since we first saw it in 2016, we wondered if it had any chance of making it to the North American lineup.
Well, one of our anonymous contributors saw one recently driving around in the metro Detroit area, and another one was spotted in Ohio. According to our source in Michigan, the 370 seen in these photos is one of a pair of Avanciers that are spending time with a Tier 1 to perform emissions testing and tuning.
While it would be nice to see these added to the American Honda lineup, the fact that these Avanciers are driving around completely undisguised, with the badges not even taped, leads us to believe that this work is being done for some other market.
