Autocar Online has a story that sheds a bit more light on the upcoming 6-passenger vehicle that Honda is rumored to be working on for a European launch this fall. They are calling it the "FR-V", as in "Family Rercreational Vehicle". In this article a few details of the upcoming "FR-V" model are revealed. Following is a summary of what they're reporting.
- 7-passenger Stream is referred to as "out-going", implying that the FR-V will replace it.
- 3+3 seating configuration is confirmed
- Styling is said to be "stylish and aggressive". Some elements of the design are said to resemble features on the Honda Bulldog concept, shown at the 2001 Tokyo Motor show (see illustrations below)
- To be based on the Civic platform
- Available motors are said to include the 2.2 CDTi diesel, 1.7L CDTi diesel, and 2.0L i-VTEC, with dashboard mounted 5-speed manual and automatic shifters
- Seating/cargo configuration is said to be very flexible, with the rear seats folding "flush with the floor".
